Successes in Airsoft Geekification

I think. When I started playing airsoft, I was feeling a little silly. I mean, me? … Outside? Huh? So, I needed to make it my own. Amanda and Sophie are visiting with my vacationing mother-in-law in Kitty Hawk tonight, so I had some time to myself. I ended up pulling out my soldering iron and harvesting components from an extra power supply and an old computer case. I made a simple battery discharger to discharge my airsoft gun batteries. The goal being to exercise them a bit and hopefully get better performance. Some people say that discharging NiMH batteries is unnecessary and some say it is. I’m not sure, but what I was doing wasn’t giving me the run time that I was expecting and so, I’m going to try discharging them for a while before charging, to see if it indeed helps. Sure makes logical sense to me. I also wanted to install a fan into my mask to see if that would cut down on fogging. The shaving cream does help to an extent (thanks Amanda:), but after a while, the humidity is just too great in there and some extra help is needed. Besides, what geek doesn’t want a fan, battery and wires attached to their head? I put a tiny switch (from the old computer case (Turbo button!)) on the top of the 9V battery connector with the hope that I won’t have to leave the fan running all the time. We’ll see if this monstrosity actually works and if it can survive a direct airsoft pellet hit! Don’t worry. I won’t test it on her.
