(RANT WARNING) It’s about durn time. This is what LEGO used to be and what made LEGO great. In my day, we didn’t have millions of specific pieces that could only be used one way. If we needed to build something out of the ordinary, WE USED OUR BRAINS. We could take a set like this and build all kinds of great things. I’d argue that it created a few generations of engineers. I guess LEGO figures that most kids don’t have the patience for sets like this anymore. They might be right. But I’m still glad to see them release a good set for the kids that really matter. When I saw this set at Target the other day, I dropped my bag of Doritos and stared at it in disbelief. After a few seconds of thought, I bought it. I plan to save it for our kid when he or she reaches a good age. I would ask you to vote for it on this site, but the voting doesn’t seem to be working. Instead, just BUY THIS SET.

I know you do.  So, here you go.  Amanda rented a Fetal Doppler from Belly Beats a couple of weeks ago, and we have been putting our minds at ease every few days since then.  It took a good half hour to find the baby’s quick heart beat the first time we used it, but I am like “the king” of that thing now.

A marketing company contracted by Cartoon Network, built these signs out of a bunch of LEDs depicting two of the better characters too infrequently shown on Aqua Teen Hunger Force raising their infamous middle finger. These signs were magnetic, so that they could be attached to any ferrous objects along the streets of a few major US cities. But there was a problem. Paranoid law enforcement. See, these signs “looked sinister” and, thanks to the four D-sized batteries and some electronics on the back, looked like they could have been bombs. Anyway, this site has a nice video explaining most of the incident. (Notice how they blur out the middle finger in the video. Hilarious.) Hmm… I built these guys out of LEGO a few years ago. Maybe it’s about time to make a page for them. Update: Here we go.
